About Us

We are a theatre company making innovative, original works from our base in
Christchurch’s reclaimed cultural hub – the Arts Centre.

We’re on a mission to grow and foster the theatre scene in Christchurch. Our vision is to see Christchurch become an internationally recognised city for innovative theatre.

To do this, Christchurch needs to continue developing its own cultural voice. There is no other city like ours in the world, and we represent that uniqueness through the theatre we make. We make original New Zealand theatre for New Zealand theatre lovers.

We offer A major part of this process is offering ways for theatre makers to
collaborate. Our aim is to establish an environment where e. We want to establish an environment where the theatre community can can come together freely to share ideas and inspire each other. We will be bringing the country’s best theatre makers to this city so we – as a community – can learn from what they do.

It’s also important to foster young theatre-makers in this city. We fell in love with theatre at a Christchurch youth company and we want to pass this passion on to the next generation. We hold workshops for up and coming actors to help nurture their talent. We run education programmes for primary school -aged children to allow them to see how theatre is developed and to have the chance to create their own works. It’s important to us that making theatre is seen not just as a hobby, but as a viable career option for young people.

We work hard to produce engaging and entertaining shows. But we also understand that theatre is an art-form that can be used as a tool for encouraging social change.

Our shows aim to make people think; to challenge people’s perceptions about issues; and to push the audience to consider what is truly important.
