Enrol a primary class to attend a theatre-making workshop at the Arts Centre! The class will begin by observing a professional company in the thick of rehearsals as they make a show, followed by a hands-on experience of making short scenes themselves. The entire workshop will last 75 minutes.

This programme takes up to 30 students, who have been seen to show promise as future theatre-makers / performers, and leads them through workshops in group leadership, devising theatre, acting and performance skills and theatre crew roles and skills.
Artistic directors, Holly and Tom, work with the primary school groups that come through the space for the first half of each year to gather interest from Year 7 and 8 students who wish to develop their theatre-making skills further. They could want to become actors, stage managers, designers, directors etc. They will then cast a group that will be invited to join the Extension Company.
The programme includes weekend skills workshops towards the end of the year, followed by a week intensive, where the extension company will make a show together.

Our mentorship programme is a FREE programme tailored to your needs- whether it’s making a show, writing, developing your directing skills, starting a company, becoming a producer-you name it- we can make it happen!
Learn vital skills of theatre making through a mixture of one-on-one sessions with the mentors and group tutorials with other up and coming Christchurch artists.
The programme runs from February to December 2018. Limited spaces- so apply now!

About the mentorship programme:
Groups and individuals with a dream to make theatre are led by artistic directors, Holly and Tom, through a series of tutorials, workshops and facilitated production meetings to produce and present their own unique work to the public.
The intake for this programme is the end of February each year and is intended for artists between the ages of 17 and 25.
